JTBD Club
Explore Real Problems Worth Solving

A community space for founders, product people, and creators to explore important needs and validate opportunities before building solutions.

Our approach

Why

Our world now needs better solutions to solve some of the problems many people face everyday.

Entrepreneurs and product people struggle to understand and validate the problem space before jumping into building solutions.

The consequence of that is that we have a huge rate of failure for new solutions.

How

Safe space of exploration, starting from a basic framework (customer forces canvas) and going from hypotheses to data coming from interactions with the targeted audience.

We create a collaborative environment where diverse perspectives help uncover deeper insights about customer needs.

What

A community space to explore important and relevant needs, problems and struggles other people have, coming in the shape of JTBD from the members.

We aim to understand them better and (possibly) validate the opportunity to tackle them with new solutions.

Why Join JTBD Club?

The Problem

Most new products and services fail because they don't address real customer needs. Traditional market research often misses the deeper motivations behind customer behavior. Working in isolation limits perspective and can lead to confirmation bias about what problems are worth solving.

Our Solution

JTBD Club provides a structured framework and collaborative environment to explore customer needs from multiple perspectives. By focusing on Jobs To Be Done methodology, we help identify the functional, emotional, and social dimensions of customer problems.

Benefits of Participation

Deeper Customer Insights

Uncover the real motivations behind customer behavior and decision-making.

Diverse Perspectives

Gain insights from professionals with different backgrounds and expertise.

Validated Opportunities

Test assumptions and validate problem spaces before investing in solutions.

Workshop Format

1

Preparation

Each participant prepares 1-3 JTBD relevant for them, explaining what the JTBD is, frequency, who has it and why it is relevant.

2

Workshop Session (2-4 hours)

4-8 people with diverse backgrounds gather for a facilitated workshop. Participants pitch their JTBD ideas, and the group votes on which ones to explore.

3

Exploration

For the selected JTBD, we explore and map:

  • Desired outcome
  • Audience segments
  • Current solutions
  • Struggles with current solutions
  • Forces of progress system
  • Triggering events for change
  • Switch timeline
4

Follow-up

After the session, participants talk to 2-5 people from the segment to test assumptions and update the customer forces map.

5

Documentation

All ideas and findings are aggregated in documents accessible to the community.

Tools We'll Use

Customer Forces Canvas

A framework to map out the forces that influence customer decisions and behavior.

Miro / Milanote / GDrive

Collaborative digital tools to document and visualize our findings.

Whiteboard, Pens, Stickers

Physical tools for in-person collaboration and ideation.

Rules of the Game

  1. We're a 'Yes, and' community (instead of 'yes, but'), therefore, it's expected that we improve on other's ideas.
  2. You are expected to contribute proactively to the conversations and work.
  3. We want to be honest about what we know, what we don't and what's an assumption, without concerns about being judged.
  4. Those assumptions and hypotheses are just a first step of knowledge, as they will need to be tested.
  5. We don't talk about (our) solutions.
  6. Nobody owns the JTBD and the surfaced ideas, but anyone present can use the insights.
  7. We share all the findings within the community.
  8. Bring other good people to the community.
